UnReal Candy

I am gonn have a taste test to see if these measure up to the real thing!

We've just unjunked America's favorite candy and we think it tastes better without the corn syrup, the artificial ingredients, and the partially hydrogenated oils. Not to mention less sugar. We even added more cacao, real caramel (not corn syrup dyed to look like caramel), more peanuts, protein, and fiber. All this is the product of the UNREAL™ culture. We’re building an eclectic mix of people from different walks and experiences. A Kashi guy. One from Google. An interior decorator. A P&G’er. A guitarist from Glaceau. A guy from Mars. An actual Oompa Loompa. A dog named Lola. You’d never find these people together in any other company in the world. But it works. Why? Because we’re drawn together by a common mission. To challenge what we’ve come to accept in our food and its effect on our health. To change the way junk food is made here in America and around the world.

Here's the Scoop.

These are ok, given the choice for the same price I would get M&M's.  The chocolate was ok but M&M's win.
Same as above, these just have peanuts

Hmmmmm, this one is tough.  I think these are different than snickers but good.  Hubby saidthey were more like a Baby Ruth.  So this is a tie.

I'm sorry, I am definately a Reese's girl.  I think Reese's win hands down.  However, Hubby would take these over Reese's.  He likes the real peanut butter in these.  He also goes for rhe palmer peanut butter cups for that reason over Reese's.  So since he gave it a thumbs up and me thumbs down,  I'll call this one a tie too.

Mine final vertict is if these were available I would wat them.  If I was given a choice I would take the real name brand over the Unreal with natural ingredients.

But they still get a thumbs up because they were not so nasty that I wouldn't buy them again.

*** I received coupons from BzzAgent and Unreal to try these candys.  But all opinions herein are my own and in no influenced by the free chocolate.  ;)  ****

Now on to what I thought:

2 in 1 Foundation

1.  It did cover very well.   I little thicker than I an used to with my Elizabeth Arden foundation.  But I do pay 5 x as much for that foundation.

2.  It was nice to have moisturizer in with the foundation, however, my face does not like certain moisturizers.  It will break out very easily with any thing that is not water based.  After 3 days of use my face started to reak out.  Now that is my face, even Este Lauder and Elizabeth Arden makes my face break out if I do not get the water based.

3.  If I was in a pinch (up north with no department stores in sight) and needed to get foundation I would go this route.  It was much better that Almay that I have tried in the past.

Pressed Power.

1.  Great coverage for shiny skin
2.  Currently in my purse right now.  Love this product.
3.  Great color combinations

My Opinion?

On the buy it list .. Foundation only if I am out of my 'expensive' favorite.

***  I received a full size sample of the foundation and power from Covergirl and BzzAgent to try and Bzzzz about.  These views are my own and in no way influenced by the free samples.   ****

Chevy Volt

General Motors has a thing for employees called the Ambassador Program.
This program allows employees to connect with teh vehicles and become better ambassadors for the vehicles.

When I have one of these vehicles I can give test rides! Just ask!

So far I have had 2 Corvettes, a Camaro, an Escalade and most recently a Volt.

It is so funny how many people are afraid to drive the Corvette.

This weekend I had the Chevrolet Volt to have the experience of driving one and see what the hype is about.

Well First I got this really cool 'Primium" Red Color.  They call it Crystal Red

The Volt comes in 8 colors: Black, White, Red Acouple Blues and a few greys.

When you get in the volt there is sleek styling and I love the council.

No buttons, all touch sensitive and a touch screen.

It was also more roomy than I thought it would be.

When I got the car it had 11 miles of charge on the battery.  I live a little farther than that so I had about 5 miles on the gas engine.  I did not even realize it switched over.

Makes me wonder about other electric vehicles.  What if you run out on your way home?  Makes you really think about where you are going before you take it out and no big side trips and how you do not get stuck in traffic.

The Cheverolet Volt gets around 35 - 40 miles per charge and 300 + miles on a full tank of gas with the gas engine.

I had the car for the weekend and only used .1 gallons of gas for the 5 miles on the way home.  Otherwise I has it pulged in and charging.  How great is that?

This is what the charger looks like:

It takes 10 hours for a full charge on 110Vs or 4 Hours on 220V

It costs about $1.50 a day to charge.  Way better than $4 a gallon for gas.

The car will tell you when you plug it in exactly when it will be fully charged.

You will find yourself looking at the diplay and watching the batter status.

For all the Geeks like me I'm adding a picture of the battery.

More Technology-

The volt is the first GM car with My Link.

You can add an app to your smart phone and see battery status, Schedule service or be like the girl in the commercial that starts, stops and locks unlocks doors for where ever you are.

Oh, and there is also a find car option to mark where your car is in the parking lot and GPS helps you find it when forgot where it was.

My favorite thing about this car?

It was sooooo quiet.  Can't tell if it is on or not.  Also it does not shake like cars with engines.

Would I buy this car?

Hmmm.  It is Around $40K nicely equiped.

Right now I drive a Chevy Silverado.

So I get about 16 - 17 MPG if I am lucky.

I drive about 11 miles to work each way so that means one charge a day or 2 gallons of gas.  $4 x 2 = $8(gas) - $1.5 (Charge)  $6.50 savings / dayx 220 days a year to work =$1430 a year saving on just driving to work.

BUT ...

My big problem is I have 3 children - mith my hubby 5 people can not fit in this car.  There are 4 bucket seats.

It is a nice car, I may go for it if I hade a smaller family or my children were bigger.

This is a spacious cute car.  That is very tree hugger and fun to drive!

***** I did not recieve anything in exchange for this review.  I just wanted share.  But yes I get my paycheck from General Motors and I take pride in my work so I may be a little biased but all opinions are my own. ****

Love them.   Going out to buy more tomorrow!!!

Ivory Soap

Been MIA for a couple of months but I'M BACK!  Work, kids and life were high priority lately.

First blog of many ...  Ivory Soap.

Free of dyes and heavy perfumes, Ivory provides a simple, yet effective clean for the entire family (without breaking the bank!).

Ivory bar soap is 99.44% pure (it floats!). Beyond using it as a body cleanser, many of Ivory's loyal users – not to mention a few celebrities – swear by Ivory as their beauty secret. In fact, many consumers use Ivory bar soap as a facial cleanser. It provides healthier, smoother and more even-looking skin. Also, its versatility makes it an effective laundry soap (just chip soap flakes into the washer) as well as a spot stain remover on your clothes (including delicate items). Ivory bars can even be used for a fun soap carving project with the family!

When it comes to motherhood, Ivory (the clean & simple soap) knows that being a mom has become more complex than ever, and that moms are looking for ways to simplify their lives. According to a survey of 1,000+ moms conducted by Wakefield Research on Ivory’s behalf in October 2011, 80% of American moms think motherhood is more complicated today than it was 20 years ago, despite the thousands of items supposedly designed to “simplify” their lives. But, while they may be more stressed out and busier than ever, almost 90% of moms think they’re doing a better job balancing it all than their mothers did.

And what do I think?

Well I am more a shower gel gal.  Like to shower with a poof and gel but use bar soap on my face.  just feels cleaner.  Liked Ivory cuz it did not dry my face out (causing more wrinkles) and did not stink (like hubby's Irish Spring)

Very gentle.

Also need to try this trick with the kids ... think it will mess up the microwave or clean it out???

you unwrap a bar of Ivory™ soap and microwave it, the soap will expand into a foam that is more than six times the size of the original bar. It's a fun trick that won't hurt either your microwave or the soap. The soap trick can be used to demonstrate closed-cell foam formation, physical change, and Charles' Law.

Yes I'm a geeky and fun mom.

  • Nuke your soap. Watch the soap closely to see what happens.
  • Depending on microwave power, your soap will reach its maximum volume within 90 second to 2 minutes. If you microwave the soap longer (I went up to 6 minutes) nothing bad will happen, but the soap won't continue to grow.
  • Allow the soap to cool for a minute or two before touching it.
  • The soap will feel brittle and flaky, but it's still soap, with the same cleaning power as before. Go ahead and get it wet and you'll see it lathers the same as ever.
  • Cut or break off a piece of Ivory™ and examine it. Do you see pockets of air? The air that causes Ivory™ to be less dense than water has been whipped into the soap, so you won't see bubbles or pockets of air. This is important, because it's the reason why the soap trick works.

  • For under $5 you get 10 bars of gentle, pure soap that has been aroundfor 100 years and you can use it to have a fun way of teaching your kids science.  Whats not to like.  Fun stuff that kids use to clean up with .. not get them dirty!

*****I received a bar of Ivory Soap in my Influenter Mom VoxBox.  All facts were from influenster and Ivory, the opinion are my own and not influensted by my sample.  Thanks Influenster and Ivory!!  *****

Living Below the Line - Day One

This and all this weeks blog posts are going to be dedicated to Below the Line

This is a Challenge that I kinda excepted as a campaign for BzzAgent.

Live Below the Line is an innovative awareness and fundraising campaign that's making a huge difference in the fight against extreme poverty.

Quite simply, we’re building a movement of passionate people willing and able to make a meaningful difference to those who need it most.

Live Below the Line is challenging individuals and communities to see how much change you can make out of $1.50. By living off just $1.50 per day for food for 5 days, you will be bringing to life the direct experiences of the 1.4 billion people currently living in extreme poverty and helping to make real change.

Think about that figure - 1.4 BILLION - that's over 4 times the population of the United States - living every day in extreme poverty.

    The challenge?

Spend 5 days feeding yourself with $1.50 a day – the U.S. equivalent of the extreme poverty line.

    The reason?

To give a glimpse into the lives of 1.4 billion people who have no choice but to live below the line every day – and who have to make $1.50 cover a lot more than food…

I fully intended to try this.  Then Life got in the way.  Too many commitments this week.  But I did make time to do a meal plan.

    So here it is:

    Monday

    Breakfast

    Yogurt - $.60 @ Kroger with coupon =                                                                  $0.48

    Lunch
Sandwich I have to estimate this (bread 1 slice ham and 1 slice cheese)                $.75

    Dinner
    Manwich Kroger $1 / can with coupon = $.83
    Venison (free thanks to hubby)
    Buns @ Kroger $1
    Strawberries Sam's Club $ 1.5 worth

Total = $3.33 / 4 family members (Caitlyn does not eat much)                               $0.83

    Need my Diet Coke 3 / $12 =  $.33 / can                                                                   $.33

    Total $2.39

    Ok, I went over.  :(

But not bad. I can't see how people do it.

CAN YOU EAT FOR $1.50 / DAY ????
