An Oakmeal cookieby the makers of Oakmeal ... genius.  This are really good and soft.  Lots of fiber .. dieters know why this is a good thing.

I usually have a granola bar or two for breakfast.  I think I just found my new go to snack.  Can't wait to try the Chocolate Almond.

Singlepackaged to keep you from eating the whole box... can we say portion control???

Love them.   Going out to buy more tomorrow!!!

Ivory Soap

Been MIA for a couple of months but I'M BACK!  Work, kids and life were high priority lately.

First blog of many ...  Ivory Soap.

Free of dyes and heavy perfumes, Ivory provides a simple, yet effective clean for the entire family (without breaking the bank!).

Ivory bar soap is 99.44% pure (it floats!). Beyond using it as a body cleanser, many of Ivory's loyal users – not to mention a few celebrities – swear by Ivory as their beauty secret. In fact, many consumers use Ivory bar soap as a facial cleanser. It provides healthier, smoother and more even-looking skin. Also, its versatility makes it an effective laundry soap (just chip soap flakes into the washer) as well as a spot stain remover on your clothes (including delicate items). Ivory bars can even be used for a fun soap carving project with the family!

When it comes to motherhood, Ivory (the clean & simple soap) knows that being a mom has become more complex than ever, and that moms are looking for ways to simplify their lives. According to a survey of 1,000+ moms conducted by Wakefield Research on Ivory’s behalf in October 2011, 80% of American moms think motherhood is more complicated today than it was 20 years ago, despite the thousands of items supposedly designed to “simplify” their lives. But, while they may be more stressed out and busier than ever, almost 90% of moms think they’re doing a better job balancing it all than their mothers did.

And what do I think?

Well I am more a shower gel gal.  Like to shower with a poof and gel but use bar soap on my face.  just feels cleaner.  Liked Ivory cuz it did not dry my face out (causing more wrinkles) and did not stink (like hubby's Irish Spring)

Very gentle.

Also need to try this trick with the kids ... think it will mess up the microwave or clean it out???

you unwrap a bar of Ivory™ soap and microwave it, the soap will expand into a foam that is more than six times the size of the original bar. It's a fun trick that won't hurt either your microwave or the soap. The soap trick can be used to demonstrate closed-cell foam formation, physical change, and Charles' Law.

Yes I'm a geeky and fun mom.

  • Nuke your soap. Watch the soap closely to see what happens.
  • Depending on microwave power, your soap will reach its maximum volume within 90 second to 2 minutes. If you microwave the soap longer (I went up to 6 minutes) nothing bad will happen, but the soap won't continue to grow.
  • Allow the soap to cool for a minute or two before touching it.
  • The soap will feel brittle and flaky, but it's still soap, with the same cleaning power as before. Go ahead and get it wet and you'll see it lathers the same as ever.
  • Cut or break off a piece of Ivory™ and examine it. Do you see pockets of air? The air that causes Ivory™ to be less dense than water has been whipped into the soap, so you won't see bubbles or pockets of air. This is important, because it's the reason why the soap trick works.

  • For under $5 you get 10 bars of gentle, pure soap that has been aroundfor 100 years and you can use it to have a fun way of teaching your kids science.  Whats not to like.  Fun stuff that kids use to clean up with .. not get them dirty!

*****I received a bar of Ivory Soap in my Influenter Mom VoxBox.  All facts were from influenster and Ivory, the opinion are my own and not influensted by my sample.  Thanks Influenster and Ivory!!  *****

Living Below the Line - Day One

This and all this weeks blog posts are going to be dedicated to Below the Line

This is a Challenge that I kinda excepted as a campaign for BzzAgent.

Live Below the Line is an innovative awareness and fundraising campaign that's making a huge difference in the fight against extreme poverty.

Quite simply, we’re building a movement of passionate people willing and able to make a meaningful difference to those who need it most.

Live Below the Line is challenging individuals and communities to see how much change you can make out of $1.50. By living off just $1.50 per day for food for 5 days, you will be bringing to life the direct experiences of the 1.4 billion people currently living in extreme poverty and helping to make real change.

Think about that figure - 1.4 BILLION - that's over 4 times the population of the United States - living every day in extreme poverty.

    The challenge?

Spend 5 days feeding yourself with $1.50 a day – the U.S. equivalent of the extreme poverty line.

    The reason?

To give a glimpse into the lives of 1.4 billion people who have no choice but to live below the line every day – and who have to make $1.50 cover a lot more than food…

I fully intended to try this.  Then Life got in the way.  Too many commitments this week.  But I did make time to do a meal plan.

    So here it is:

    Monday

    Breakfast

    Yogurt - $.60 @ Kroger with coupon =                                                                  $0.48

    Lunch
Sandwich I have to estimate this (bread 1 slice ham and 1 slice cheese)                $.75

    Dinner
    Manwich Kroger $1 / can with coupon = $.83
    Venison (free thanks to hubby)
    Buns @ Kroger $1
    Strawberries Sam's Club $ 1.5 worth

Total = $3.33 / 4 family members (Caitlyn does not eat much)                               $0.83

    Need my Diet Coke 3 / $12 =  $.33 / can                                                                   $.33

    Total $2.39

    Ok, I went over.  :(

But not bad. I can't see how people do it.

CAN YOU EAT FOR $1.50 / DAY ????

    Venus and Olay Razor

Introducing the new Gillette Venus and Olay Razor

They must really love their product because they will give you DOUBLE your money back if you do not like it,  Not many products do that.  Most will give your mioney back but double???!!!

For the first time ever, Gillette Venus, a global leader in female shaving, and Olay, a global leader in skincare, are coming together to deliver a gold standard in shaving with the new Gillette Venus & Olay razor. Venus’ best shaving technology works with Olay Moisture Bars, offering women best-of-both-worlds shaving and skin expertise. Olay Moisture Bars help lock-in moisture to your skin for less dryness, and with every smoothing stroke, Venus’ five blades shave you close.

    Product Details

•Venus’ five-bladed razors shave you close and adjust to women’s curves for a smooth and comfortable shave, even over tricky shaving areas like knees and ankles.

•Olay Moisture Bars contain skin-enhancing elements found in Olay products: Petrolatum helps lock in skin’s moisture for less dryness and Glycerin helps offer that goddess glow! Just wet the razor to release a light lather – no separate shave cream required.

•As with most Venus razors, new Venus & Olay also features a rounded, pivoting head designed for women’s curves, and a soft-grip ergonomic handle for confident control, even in wet and soapy environment

Look at the cool shower hook that it comes with.
(Like most stuff in my bathroom it does not stay put.)

It is not disposable, you can purchase replacement blades!!

    Ok, What do I think??

I love it.  My daily shower routine that includes shaving my legs will usually start with hair conditioner on my legs to soften and help shaving and end up with a big dose of lotion after teh shower.

With the Gillette Venus and Olay Razor neither of these are necessary.  The lotion and conditioner are built in.

I have tried othere before with moisure strips or the big chuck of moisturizer and either they dry out soon or the chunck o'stuff breaks up and falls off after a couple of uses.

Not with this razor.  It has flexable tape that the moisturizer and lotion bars are attached too.  They float on your skin instead of being in a stationary position.

Again i love it.  But not in love with the price tag.  :(  But all GOOD razors are expensive.

Will definately go out and buy replacement blade.  (When I have coupons)

    Try it for yourself!!!

***I received a full product sample of the Gillette Venus and Olay Razor in my product sample VoxBox from Influenster.com.  The free sample in no way influenced my opinions.  They are my own from testing the product.  Thanks, Influenster and Gillette!! ***

    Truvia

Truvia is a leaf extract that is a natural sweetener.  Imagine a sugar subsitute that is born from a plant and not the lab.  No harsh chemical.  No wondering what will this do to me 10 -20 years from now.
Truvia is made from the Stevia plant.  a member of the chrysanthemum family.  Think pretty flowers.

There are recipes and conversion charts on the Truvia site to make low calorie foods.

    Look a recipe for brownies!!

    Ingredients

Erythritol is an all-natural, non-caloric sweetener, used as an ingredient that provides bulk for the tabletop form of Truvia® stevia leaf extract. Bulking agents are additives that increase the bulk and contribute to the texture of a food. Erythritol has been part of the human diet for thousands of years as it is present in fruits such as pears, melons and grapes, as well as foods such as mushrooms and fermentation-derived foods such as wine, soy sauce and cheese. It is added to foods and beverages to provide sweetness, as well as to enhance taste and texture.

    What did I think?

I had it in some Stash Tea.  The tea by itself needed sweeting.  i would have added at least 2 packages of sugar to it but one truvia was enough.  I also opened a package and spilled it out on my desk at work.  Some could be questioning the white powdery supstance but ...   It was reaaly sweet, a little goes a long way.    Looks simular to sugar, a little more powdery than crytal like.

    Disolves much faster than sugar.

IMO this is a great alternative to sugar and the dreaded equal or pink packages.

Do out and Try Truvia for yourself!!!

****  I received a sample of Truvia to try.  However, this did not influence this blog post.  All opinions are my own, facts come from truvia website.  ****   Thanks Influenster!!!
